Dr. Hannah Smith

Dr. Hannah Smith grew up in West Seattle and Southern California. She began her academic journey at the University of California, Davis, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science. She went on to receive her veterinary degree from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. Following graduation, Dr. Smith pursued a rotating equine internship at the University of Queensland in Australia. She continued to travel to new places and spent several years in Canada working in primary care and emergency practice, where she first discovered her passion for ophthalmology.

 

She returned to the US to complete a specialty internship and then residency in veterinary ophthalmology at North Carolina State University. Dr. Smith became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in 2025. Her professional interests include corneal disease, intraocular surgery, and glaucoma management. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Smith enjoys baking, camping, and traveling locally and abroad. She and her partner share a home with a retired research Beagle named Tortellini and a cat named Mouse.
